In describing the qualities of a prospective romantic partner, let's remove the following from the List of Why He/She Would Be a Good Significant Other:
- respects boundaries
- honest
- follows through with commitments
Why don't these belong on that list?
Because these things should be expected. Baseline good human behavior.
We don't deserve "bonus points" for being honest, respectful, or having integrity.
If that's all someone is offering you - or struggling to meet even those expectations - move on. Your time is worth more than that.
