How I Spent My 32nd Birthday

Last day as a 31 year old: hiked in Val Gardena surrounded by the stunning Dolomites Mountains. Enjoyed every single bite of dinner and glass of red wine. Read on this balcony overlooking the village of Bulla. Came across Guy Winch's Ted talk How To Fix A Broken Heart. Furiously took notes. Had a good (and very ugly) cry. Listened to birthday messages from my parents and sister. Returned to the balcony to listen to the hymns pouring from the village church next door. 

First day as a 32 year old: took the village bus from Bulla to Bolzano. Soaked in the unique blend of Italian, Austrian, and German cultures. Went to an evening yoga class (mostly in Italian!). Gave my broken heart the compassion it needed. Resolved to be more than that broken heart. 

Three months later: I am more than a broken heart.
