From March 2018
Moving forward isn’t a thing thing happens. It is a choice you make every day. And on some days, you won’t be able to do it - you will cry and let an entire day be ruined because you found the perfume cap of hers you saved.
Someday you’ll be in a new city, with new friends they don’t even know about, eating at restaurants they don’t know exist, and wearing new jeans they’ll never see. And it won’t matter that everything about that situation is new - because your heartache is old, and it’s still with you.
You can dye your hair, PR your back squat, sleep with strangers, read poetry like people read the Bible, and travel to new countries. The pain will still be there, waiting to be acknowledged. Do those things anyway. Not as a means of escape, but to remind yourself there is still room for newness amidst lingering heartache.
To the badass, independent, brave women: this will break you, too.
